My Rodeo Gear

With a little, ok a lot, of help from my friends, I put together an outfit rodeo-worthy. I wore an old pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans, they are about 4 years old & light in color, bootcut and a little baggy on me right now, a brown tee from Banana, a thick brown belt with silver trim & I borrowed a pair of boots that were so cute. She actually had the boots because she rides horses, not just for the cuteness factor! It was a great time and I fit right in.

And by the way, there are some cute country boys at these rodeos all dolled up in tight levis, boots and nice presses shirts. Singles ladies - start hitting the rodeos!

Cougars at Weaver Ridge

I am a golfer and highly suggest the Weaver Ridge 9 & Dine special. 9 holes after 4 pm with cart and $15 credit for dinner that night for $49. The food at Weaver is delicious. They have some of the best bbq ribs in town, no joke, awesome reuben & chicken quesadillas. I kid you not.

Also, Friday night yields the cougars. The middle aged ladies are out on the prowl having their drinks and looking for a nice young man. It is great. They are huge flirts, tipsy by 9 and a riot to watch.

Enjoy.

He's still out there ladies...

Take a listen, too funny

While being single has its advantages, we gals do run into idiots like this. This poor gal. Glad she posted for the rest of our enjoyment though.

Rodeo attire?

It's official, I have nothing to wear to a rodeo. I've never been to a rodeo but this weekend will be my first. Apparently a sundress is a no no. I thought a cute colorful one with some thongs would have been ok, I mean it is outside. I've asked my friend G for advice and was told jeans, but not my good ones so no Paige or Joes hmmmmm, a cute tank - solid color none of my crazy patterned or flowy ones- and some shoes that can get dirty or muddy. I'm at a loss on the shoes. I was hoping to wear my cute MKors wedges but ...

G also stated bandanna and spurs optional. I hope to post some good pics upon my return.

Also my apologies for not posting in a very long time. Personal life all settled now so back to my rants.

Good coconut

I went out on a limb and ordered the Dylan's Candy Bar lotion - Coconut Bon Bon Lotion as I needed a new lotion for my gym bag. While I love coconut, I usually don't buy it in lotion or shower gel as I feel there is a fine line between good coconut and smelling like a stripper. You know the scent, like Malibu rum, ick.

Anyway, this is a great smelling lotion. Light coconut, a bit sugary and little lemon & vanilla. I'd recommend. Right now sephora is running special if you enter dcandy at check out. You get it cheaper.

80's bad fashion at work

I am not kidding, someone at work was wearing a banana clip in her hair. Wow, I haven't seen one of those since high school. My new building is in a total fashion time warp. I think I also spotted someone wearing Units - remember those from the 80's. If not, check out this page: http://www.inthe80s.com/clothes/emmyparadisecacom0.shtml

What bothers me about this page though is how some people commented they still wear them and love the elastic! No, wear clothes that fit, not big baggy sacks. Ugh.

Cheap & chic shower gels

It is critical during these winter months to stay moisturized & here are some recommended shower gels which do the job and are tres affordable.
  • St Ives Oatmeal & Shea Butter shower gel - Under $5, soothes dry, itchy skin, nice gentle vanilla smell, moisturizing and not tested on animals. Available at Walgreens, Target, etc.
  • Korres Showergel -available at Sephora or Ulta. Korres roots are in the oldest homeopathic pharmacy in Athens, Greece. From watercress to wild rose, sage to sweet almond, their roster of ingredients reads more like a grocery list. Using only top quality plant extracts that enchant the senses and effectively treat the skin, Korres chooses to leave out synthetic ingredients like mineral oil and propylene glycol from all their formulas. The smells are wonderful, not overpowering and they are very moisturizing. My favorite Korres scent is the mint tea but all smell fabulous.
And neither of these leaves the shower floor greasy like other products. Enjoy.

No more chunky shoes

I was at the gym and this is what I spied in a nearby locker. NO! No chunky shoes. The true crime here is the woman who was going to sport these Frankenstein shoes was young, thin and attractive. Why put big ole clunky shoes on! They make you look bottom heavy. I am not proposing everyone get spiky heels but what about a cute pair of ballet shoes, wedges or some heels with a thicker heel. Yes, thicker heels are in, see pic below, and there is a difference between them and chunky heels.

These are tough economic times but go through your closet, get rid of chunky heels and buy a new pair of shoes; there are some great sales out there.

Don't be a New Year's Resolutioner

I attended Step class on Monday. As I set up my step, the people kept coming in...and then I realized, oh yeah, its January. Ahhh, all the new faces...for a month at least.

Don't write New Year's resolutions, write commitments. Be committed to fitness, exercise, a healthy lifestyle, not just a one month deal. Make a friend at the gym and make a point to see them there. Eat healthy - get in your fiber & fruits & veggies. I made a friend ask me daily last year for about a month if I ate my 3-4 servings a day...the constant reminder helped & I still get my fruits & veggies.

Then with all the exercise and healthy eating you can buy some super cute fashionable clothes and be ready for the New Year!
